PhD CANDIDATE

Yanyi Lu (Lulu)

Yanyi Lu is an accordionist and member of Tianjin Musicians Association, China. Her PhD research focuses on teaching a second language through choral singing across different age groups. She is interested in education philosophies, and teaching approaches, across Eastern and Western countries.

Lulu is currently producing a “Singing Curriculum” to teach Mandarin Chinese to English school students, as well as community choirs. The Singing Curriculum contains core songs for both basic Mandarin language learning and Chinese traditional music. She adopts melodies from both countries (Britain and China) to facilitate students in learning both the language and the culture of the country.
